Information about Saturna Island's Public Library and services.

About the Collection

The Library's book collection includes: fiction, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, humour, short stories, poetry, classical literature, young adult and children's books. We also have a large number of topical non-fiction,  biography and autobiography, reference and local history. There is a steadily growing collection of DVD movies and as well as many audio books.

Maximum items allowed per person - 15

Maximum overdue items per person - 2 (borrowing privileges may be suspended)

*Please note that holds are permissible on "Currently Checked Out" items only. If you attempt a hold on an item currently in the library you will a receive a "not available" message. 

Holds will be returned to general circulation, or to the next "hold" in the queue, if not picked up after two open days (1 week). Please come to the library to get your item.

Membership

To become a member, the Library requires proof of Saturna Island residency, identification and and a Saturna phone number. Your new library card is literally a work of art (by local artist and resident Jack Campbell).  If you need to replace your card the charge to do so is $5.00.

Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary Loans Website Click Here. Just hit "go" - no username or password is required. Contact Donna Digance at 250-539-5577 to order a book through the Interlibrary system.

Special services offered by the library

Book delivery service to islanders not able to visit the Library.

Internet Services

There are two public computers with high-speed internet and a wireless hot spot available for mobile devices during library hours only.  There is no fee for this service but donation are gratefully accepted.

Printing/Copying

A laser printer is available to the public stations.  Please pay librarian 15 Cents per page.  10 cents per page if you are supplying your own paper.
